Balaji Prakash Rao:
Appa to our daughters. A small write-up about him.
Balaji Prakash Rao is an inspiring leader and dedicated humanitarian, serving as the Chief Product Security Officer and Deputy CISO for a pioneering Smart Home Technology company. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Balaji has co-founded and serves as a managing trustee for several impactful non-profit organizations, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to social justice and community empowerment.
In 1998, Balaji co-founded ‘Mitr,’ a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting battered women in the United States. Through his tireless efforts, Mitr has assisted over 300 victims of domestic violence, offering them hope and a path to safety. His advocacy for women’s rights has also led him to present at United Nations side sessions on Intimate Partner Violence and women’s empowerment, amplifying his impact on a global stage.
Balaji’s dedication to education is evident through his co-founding of Gift a Future International in 2013, which provides educational assistance to underprivileged children. Two years later, he co-founded ‘Kanavagam’ (Dream Home), a US-India based non-profit that adopts and nurtures destitute children. Together with his wife, they have welcomed 32 daughters, including their two biological children, into their family.
In recognition of his extraordinary service and profound impact on communities both locally and globally, Balaji was honored with a prestigious award by United States President Joe Biden in 2022. His life and work continue to inspire and uplift those around him, embodying the true spirit of compassion and leadership.
Kavitha Ramasami:
Kavitha is a successful lawyer in the United States. She is anpracticing immigration law in US for over 25 years. She runs an all women law office.
Accomplished lawyer that does lot of probono work for the community Social activist fighting for women’s rights Shoulder to lean on for women in distress and has hosted numerous victims in her own home until they bounce back in life Provides Pro bono services for domestic violence victims and economically poor individuals. She cofounded Mitr an organization to assist domestic violence victims. Kind and loving individual with loads of compassion.
She cofunded Kanavagam along with her husband Balaji. Kanavagam is a home for once orphaned children in Kundrakudi, India. She is proud mother of 32 adopted daughters and 2 biological daughters.
Current Board Member and former President of New Jersey Tamil Sangam. She also served previously on FETNA Board! Very active and well-known in the Indian community, a person of high ethics and integrity. Excellent human being.
